I'm not in a similar position yet but I'm likely to have simoilar problems in the future since my medical insurance does not cover ANYTHING if it looks like dental--even if its from a medical condition and is surgery. I do have dental insurance but it isn't a good plan and its through my husbands workplace and it doesn't cover oral surgery because at his workplace, his health insurance covers that (but I don't have that health insurance, I have health insurance through my own workplace).

So there's a big hole, especially for oral surgery, where I'm not covered at all.
