My husband just had a biopsy yesterday on his tongue. He felt another "strange" spot on his tongue back in his gag reflex. It took three visits to his oral surgeon for follow up to finally get a biopsy. He didn't see anything to be alarmed about and didn't really want to do anything but watch it. I kept insisting that a biopsy should be done to be sure. Seems like we have to fight for some tests and be our own advocates...something I have learned thru this. By the way, I am from Columbia, MD. Debbie/Caregiver/wife of Dan, diagosed with SCC tongue, Stage II/III, 1/3 tongue removal, lymph node dissection both sides of neck, skin graph 7/30/03. Left tumor found - radical left neck dissection 12/24/03. Could not get all of tumor/wrapped around carotid artery and in wall of jugular. 1/12/04 beginning of 6 doses of Taxol/Cistoplatin once a week, and rad 70 gray 5 days a week/6 weeks.
