Some how I missed this thread so my reply is slow. Thrush is common and easily treated with several things. My preference is the Nystatin swish (mouthwash) because it gets to stay in contact with the little Bast--- that cause the problem. That way they get killed fast (usually one day maybe two at the most).
On the CONSTIPATION issue the cause of this problem is VERY likely the PAIN medications. Many of the best pain meds cause the worst pain at the other end. (that is so you can't have too much fun) I found a dose of plant fiber lax. (like metimucel) taken just before or after the pain meds helped a little. best thing is to get off the pain meds as soon as possible!
Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
