Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 4,918 Likes: 67 | The rule of thumb that we tell dentists is 14 days. The vast majority of benign issues resolve themselves during that period of time. While there are persistent benign abnormalities, they also need definitive diagnosis, often through biopsy after 14 days.
