Contributing Member (25+ posts) Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 27 | Jim had Cisplatin and we were very lucky to get him through it without the nausea. The chemo nurse had me start him on the Zofran within a few hours after we got home and then to give it to him religiously every four hours until we were 24 hours past the chemo. Then I weaned him off increasing the time after each dose until he felt he was in the clear.
They told us to be certain we started him on the Zofran - regardless of whether he felt any nausea. You have much better luck if you can stop the nausea before it starts, rather than trying to stop it after it does.
CG to husband, dx 02/09/06 tumor base of tongue spread to lymph nodes. 35 combined xrt/imrt rad plus 3 rounds Cisplatin. Final tx 05/18/06. Parotidectomy & Sel Neck Dis 08/09/06. Lung cancer surgery 04/20/07. All currently in remission.
