Senior Member (100+ posts) Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 188 Likes: 1 | Scott, I had some degree of mouth sores from my second week until about 3 weeks after completion of rad treatment. The docs gave me a bunch of mouthwashes to combat the effects. There was their "magic mouthwash" they had me swish & spit every 4 hours. That's the stuff with the Lydocain in it. Nasty but effective for pain relief. The others as I recall were a Nystatin rinse, and another pink one I can't remember. They were to prevent infections and Thrush. I'd encourage you to keep up with the rinses. They really will help.
