Just got back with good news. The biopsy showed Lichenoid mucositis. The doctor said it will be a game of elimination to see what is causing the inflammation and allergic reaction. Common causes are mint (my toothpaste?), cinnamon which I do not eat a lot of or something else. This explained the on off tongue pain. Now I just need to find the cause.
What I do know is that the whole side of my tongue was white and it mostly went away when my tooth made out of amalgam filling was replaced with a cap. What was left was stubborn and what the surgeon wanted to biopsy. It kind of annoys me he wouldn’t believe that the white patch would slowly get better each day because I was actively keeping my tongue from that fake tooth. It burned and was very metallic tasting yet today he was all onboard with the reason it waxes and wanes. I know he did the right thing by wanting a biopsy, but it his bed-side manner is not that great.
I will continue to come back here in case someone is going through the same kind of thing and I can help a bit with my story. Reading stories here helped and made me realize there are a lot of brave people here going though their own issues.
