I had my surgeries (hemiglossectomy & neck dissection) last December and finished treatment of 33 doses radiation and 2 rounds of chemo in March. Most of the nerve I continue to have is along my neck where the neck dissection took place. It can be a stabbing jolt that makes me wince. Once in a while I do feel nerve pain in my tongue, but it doesn't last long. My surgeon said it is normal as the affected muscles and nerves heals. If the nerve pain continues to bother you maybe you could get prescribed Gabapentin or something else to help with the nerve pain. Hang in there.

The number of people involved in my care (@ a CCC) is humbling. Doctors, nurses, therapists, support staff, & of course, family. With everyone fighting for me to beat cancer the least I can do is fight back and win!
