When I used the ACS volunteer drivers, I was living way out in the sticks well off the beaten path. It was 45 minutes each way to the hospital. The volunteer drivers all lived near the treatment center so they drove 45 minutes up to get me then 45 minutes back down to the hospital and then another hour and half to take me home and go back to their home. Those kind hearted souls drove 3 hours a day to help me. Im forever grateful for their kindness and willingness to help a perfect stranger that needed a hand. Im sure there are plenty of others that do the volunteer driving positions who wouldnt mind driving log distances. It doesnt hurt to sign up and give it a try.
