All chemos will have side effects. Carboplatin is usually the next chemo given if cisplatin produces serious side effects with ear problems. They are both platinum based chemos. Erbitux (cetuximab) is another type of chemo. It does have side effects, most patients get rashes with Erbitux some will have more serious infusion reactions. Make sure you always report any issues, no matter how insignificant they may seem to your doctor.
