Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 207 | I had the surgery January 31. It is the only way I know that you can tell if the cancer is gone. We have a small support group here in Raleigh that have all had gthe surgery. We are all in remission so far after radiation and chemo. The surgery can have some complications, but none of us have any serious ill effects.
SCC, base of tongue, 2 lymph nodes, stage 3/4. 35 X's IMRT radiation, chemo: Cisplatin x 2, 5FU x2, & Taxol x2. Hooray, after 3 years I'm in still in remission.
