Estelle, as Christine said the HPV virus is usually only found in Oropharyngeal cancers. That's the base of the tongue and tonsils. This was not where your cancer was - the oral tongue.
It wouldn't change any thing anyway and would make NO difference to your ultimate survival.
I do however think that you should discuss this with your Oncology team as you need to be quite clear on the HPV thing and cause and effect.
My advice is don't waste your money.

Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!
