Anyone who has a J/G tube should NEVER attempt to check for residual as it could cause serious problems. Im not sure if a button PEG user needs to check for residual or not.
When I had a PEG tube I often forgot to check for residual. My visiting nurse advised if its done once or twice a day thats enough.
