The fear of the unknown makes it so much harder to do. Have him close his eyes and pretend he is someplace else. I would imagine myself on a warm sunny beach. I never opened my eyes at all during my rad treatments. After he gets past the first one it will be much easier. He must accept this is what he must do and then do it.
