Hi Shell, actually I think this is fairly common.
When Kris had his reoccurrence the ENT did a biopsy straight away in his office. It came back as as dysplasia but he said he needed to do a deeper biopsy under anaesthesia.
It came back as SCC. I knew it would. Kris had developed an ulcer on his Base of Tongue. The same area the ENT had been watching since Kris's radiation/chemo had finished.
Hope all goes well for you, and you get your results soonest. Keep busy and try not to dwell too much on it. You can not change it. What will be will be.

PET 6/11 clear.
R) level 2-4 neck dissection 8/1/11 to remove residual node - necrotic with NED
Feb '12 Ca back.. 3/8/12 total glossectomy/laryngectomy/bilat neck dissection/partial pharyngectomy etc. clear margins. All nodes negative for disease. PEG in.
March 2017 - 5 years disease free. Woohoo!
