It could turn out to be all kinds of things so try to not worry and if its still there in 2 weeks get checked. You may want to begin making a few calls next week due to the holidays doctors may have some different office hours. Seek out an ENT (ear, nose and throat specialist) who specializes in oral cancer.
As far as I know at this time it has not yet been proven for oral cancer to be something you can get passed down to you.
