| Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,264 Likes: 5 "OCF Canuck" Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | "OCF Canuck" Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,264 Likes: 5 | Hi there - now you've got me feeling my tongue!!!  the lump doesn't sound normal to me (maybe a pocket if infection?) - it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out - wrinkly and leathery - sounds normal - they're putting tissue from somewhere else into your mouth so it may be a bit larger than the area - hence the wrinkles -- leathery? You may have some dead skin try using a soft tooth brush to clean it very gently and give it more time to heal. Since the skin put in there is not from your mouth and used to being wet all the time it may not behave normally for a while but it does adjust. I'm almost a year out of rads and other than a fold in my tongue from where it was stitched - it feels like a regular tongue and has very similar mobility. the fold sticks up a bit like a skin tag almost - but it's soft etc... Color wise it a pale whitish pink... A little lighter than my real tongue. I'm blessed in that I don't have pain... I would occasionally get a twinge here and there - when the nerves were regenerating - but for me real pain is a good indicator to have it checked out - particularly if you haven't had rads (rads causes all kinds of unexplained issues) Good luck with verything.
