I just passed my 5 year mark a couple of weeks ago and yes, my "new" tongue is VERY sensitive to burning, even 5 years after surgery. I eat most of my food cold because I am always afraid of the burn. I used to experience the tingling quite frequently but not so much anymore. My "new" tongue is still paler than the real one. That has never changed.
