I agree with the previous posters. Follow up with an oncologist who is not a surgical specialist. 30% of stage one and two oral cancer patients have occult metastasis of the disease to cervical nodes or surrounding tissues. This is a reality not an opinion. Occult means that scans do not pick it up because it is a "micro" met. Frequently these individuals have what is termed recurrences, but in actuality is still the left overs from the original cancer that were too small to see a year or two down the road. Another opinion would not be that big a deal, and may make a difference in your future. Also like the others, I am pleased to hear that you are doing so well.
