OP Supporting Member (50+ posts) Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 62 | Went to MUSC for my six month follow up on Sept 8th and my surgeon isn't pleased with an area at the back of my mouth and lateral tongue. About two months after my last surgery I had my ENT remove a little polyp this same area which proved to be benign- but like all path reports while they could see no invasion within that sample they couldn't speak to the surrounding tissue. In June my dentist was concerned about this area but my ENT was not. Looks like my dentist and surgical oncologist are on the same page. So...they are going to remove more tissue. The procedure will be short (outpatient) and they will check pathology while I'm on the table so that is a blessing.
I'm very grateful that this has all been pretty superficial up to this point. Reading what so many of you experience makes me feel rather silly to be nervous. But this is the third 'flaying' in 12 months. I feel a bit like I'm being whittled away...
