Oh, Jill,
I'm so sorry you had to go through this. My husband also died suddenly, unexpectedly and in pain. It was awful. I know how he died (airway closed); I just don't know why: he wasn't ill with anything that should have killed him.

Anyway, you are facing a rough road, and there is no easy way to get through it. Take it one day at a time.
