As with everything, different techniques work for different people. I had a variety of advice but the best was the therapist who did a swallow study - which is a video x-ray of the swallow process - I call it my x-ray-ted video. smile
She had me try various techniques which we reviewed while looking at the video to determine what seemed to work best for me. This therapist was very knowledgable and helped me a lot. I had another therapist who was very nice and could follow someone else's recommendations but was really clueless as to what someone with my problems required. So my major recommendation is to make sure the therapist has lots of experience with people with issues similar to your husband's. The other problem for me is that I'm not very patient and it is a slow process.
