I'm about 3 months post lateral tongue resection (minor glossectomy according to resident doctor) and I have kept my every six weeks follow up appointments and all has been fine and my tongue is healing well. For the past week though, my tongue has this thick, "inflated", swollen feeling with a little soreness and I have a metalic taste in my mouth. There doesn't seem to be any swelling or inflammation when I look at the area. The feeling of thickness/inflation has been intermittent but for the past two days it seems constant. I am wodering if anyone else who has had a glossectomy has had this type of feeling in their tongue. I am just getting over shingles of the brow area and scalp (just finished Valtrex) so maybe everything is just a little more sensitive. Shingles on right side - same as resection. Any thoughts?
