Hi,
Please check out this article published in "Medscape Today".
Pioglitazone Shows Promise for Oral Cancer PreventionThe link above may bring you to a page to register to Medscape. To avoid that, just search the article title above in google and it will bring right there. This is the first time I have seen anything that could prevent dysplasia from turning into SCC.
Personally, I have been battling this for over 10 years with dysplasia coming back every year after being removed. Three times it turned into cancer. My most recent surgery removed the SCC from my gums, and also there was a part on the top of my tongue with severe dysplasia that was removed, just above where my flap connects to the tongue. Dysplasia in the form of white patches and red lesions just keep coming back on my tongue, and around my gums. So I have no doubt I have not seen the last of it.
Those with dysplasia or Leukoplakia might want to look up the doctors involved with this study (mentioned in the article) as they are doing more clinical trials. This study is just preliminary, but does bring some hope to the table.
All the best!
