OP "Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 681 | Tulane Medical School will be having a screening here in New Orleans Monday at a prominent location at the MLK Day parade. It will be in the Tulane mobile health unit 10 to noon with 2 doctors, 2 nurses and myself who will be there with OCF brochures and butttons as a patient represntative. This is a first so there is no idea how many people will participate. Thanks to Megan for supplying the screening forms which TU will be using. Next month I will be participating in an awareness campaign with the ENT team to meet with ministers of black churches to raise awareness and to encourage prevention and early detection and treatment. A nurse who formerly worked at "The Big C" (Charity Hospital which became nonfunctional after Hurricane Katrina) that patients would come in "smelling of death" because of lack of care. I will post next week with a report of the screening
