Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | Liz, I was told that they cant replace just the tip of the tube. Maybe its my type of tube. Call the gastro doc right away if the peg tube leaks, he will need a new one. Ive tried crazy glue, medical tape and tegaderm to seal a leak without success.
I have a J/G tube and get mine replaced about every 3 months. Its very minor surgery done as an out patient. It is a quick procedure where I go in and 15 mintues later Im walking out with a brand new tube. My tube isnt a regular peg tube, mine goes into both the stomach and also the large intestine, there are a couple internal stitches to hold it in place.
