hi everyone,
so after the nodule was found on his lung, we went in for a PET this monday and tues went into review the PET... PET showed abnormal amt of fluid around his heart. he was immediately sent into emergency surgery to drain the heart.
wednesday fluid was found around lungs. they drained a lot of fluid both days- nearly a quart of fluid from around his heart the first day
we were very scared, our first thought is either infection or metastasis...
yesterday fiance and i drove up from NJ to syracuse to see him. he is looking much better but VERY weak and tired. can't walk much, back to not talking much and communicating with a pad and paper.
good thing is pathology results so far have shown its not cancer and its not an infection. thank god. we are still waiting for a few more confirmed reuslts but as the DR today said, the pathology results are the "gold standard". we still need to biopsy the nodule and hopefully that will be done while he is still in the hosp. they are thinking of discharging him tomorrow, i am almost hoping they let him stay there longer and gain more strength and surveillance.
anyways i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. dr. said it could have been a viral issue which she said happens in almost 80% Of patients that come in with fluid surrounding their heart and they really never figure out what caused it.
i am just praying the rest of the results come back as negative for cancer and infection and we can back to recovery...
thanks for reading. please let me know if you have any advice or knowlede in this area.
