Emmylou, as I understand it, you allow some organization to use the power of your personal computer to run computations. I am not comfortable downloading software that allows someone else to use my computer, but that's just me.
This is another custom island. This one could be used for ads. This spot is one of the best places for ads on your site to be placed. This can be enabled/disabled on a per forum basis.
