I went through my surgery and treatments fairly easily. It was the first surgery I have ever been through. Of course it is worth it! Do you have family near enough that can help you with this?
Do your best to wait for "your" case to unfold. Don't assume the worst. Every one of us gets a "custom" job so what ever you have to put up with may not be so bad.

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
