If no one has a personal recommendation, here's a thought: The website for the company that manufactures the VELscope (a screening tool that identifies mouth abnormalities unseen to the naked eye) lists dentists who are using it. Go here -- http://www.velscope.com/velscope.php -- and click on "VELscope User Directory" on the left side. You can put in a city and state -- or even just the state -- and get the names of dentists who use it.

It lists 49 in Michigan.

April 2006: Husband dx by dentist with leukoplakia on tongue. Oral surgeon's biopsy 4/28/06: Moderate dysplasia; pathology report warned of possible "skip effect." ENT's excisional biopsy (got it all) 5/31/06: SCC in situ/small bit superficially invasive. Early detection saves lives.
