My 25 year old son has had a bump on the back of his tongue and a sore throat for about 4 weeks. He went to his GP and received 1 round of antibiotics. It did not clear up he was having a lot of pain. The GP then referred him to an Oral surgeon. That visit took place today. The Oral Surgeon stated that the look and thickening of the tongue tissue is constistent with a fungal infection. Or thrush. He said whatever it is, it appears to be on it's way out. He gave him a rinse to use and if not better in 2 weeks then they will do a biopsy. My son confirms it has gotten much better.
I guess I'm a little hyper-sensitive due to his father's bout with BOT cancer.
In addition, our son lives in Orlando and we are in Ohio. I'm a little uneasy and know I'll be re-diving into the research again and staying up all night stewing about it.
