In addition to the Fungi infection Diane mentioned the RO could have felt some scar tissue from your wife's surgery since you said the pain's located in the same area as before, especially since your ENT didn't mention the "bump".
Hopefully all of that coupled with the clear CT will lend a positive outcome.
