I am hurting more than I have ever hurt in and around my mouth on the right side. The right side on my throat up to my right jaw , the floor of my mouth\, my tongue on the right side and into the floor under my tongue, my right ear so bad don't touch it and in the right side of my head into my eye. I am a toughy but right now am about to say this time it's too much without saying the pain is the bpss. Ay least temporaily. I am calling my Oncologist in the morning and am now waiting for my appt the 25th. Can't even eat or drink ensure. That's bad for me. Too skinny now.

Jim if the pain is that severe, go to the ER.

If you think you can wait til tomorrow, call first thing in the morning and insist on being seen tomorrow. Do not take no for an answer. Please post that you are ok after the doc checks you.

Jim, I come back here to catch up with folks and I can see a lot of people I care about in pain of one sort or another--including you. Please get in to see the doctor as soon as you can - no one should have to endure pain like that. Thinking of you.

If I went to the ER I would be kept all night, spend an extra $50 and they would know nothing maybe except what I told them. I'm callin the Dr no later than 9 this morning and one way or another if I have to just go walkin. He has always said come down now.

Jim,

Can't you get your appt moved up?

What would you be telling a newbie if they posted what you just did?
Posted By: Good1 Re: Severe Pain - 03-18-2009 02:45 PM
Jim

I am so very worried about you. I will drive over to OH and take you to the doctor if you need me to!

Please get in there asap and let us know that you are OK - none of us should endure severe pain like that.

Thinking of you Patty

Come on over Patty.. LOL I'll be waiting. David they office just called back. He is overbooked now because he was called out of town for a week. I was originally scheduled for the 10th myself and rescheduled for the 25th. THe only eway I can get in before then is if someone cancels. They did ask some questions about the anneurysm surgery I had. I have no doubt I was told the truth because he has even taken me in the evening when he could spend more time with me. I'm waiting Patty. LOL Thanks for the offer. I have enough narcotics here to keep me pain free, I just hate to take them because of that fun time constipation.

Jim I hear that those individually wrapped prunes taste just like candy - at least that's what they say on the commercials. LOL

All I can say is you had better not sit there in terrible pain without going to the doc or the ER mister and then get really sick. It could be something serious you know? How far away is your sister from you?? Is it possible that your doc can just call and talk to you so that he can give you suggestions over the phone?

Patty

Glad you are taking some pain meds.

You know David is right..... What would you have told a newbie? .... GET TO THE DOC!!!!

Call your doc again tomorrow and push them to squeeze you in. Sometimes the people who answer the phones for appointments are like guard dogs. Once I had to tell them to go ask the doc cuz he told me I can get in immediately anytime I need to. After about 5 minutes the girl came back and asked me if I could be there in an hour. Sometimes you need to be aggressive to get results.

Hope you feel better very soon, keep us posted.

. They treat my dauther that way too and 1 Dr aalways ask how Lori is, LOL she is 5ft10in and thin and pretty. Looks like her daddy LOL

EZ JIM

I share everyone's concern but hear you loud and clear about the ER - not only is it time and $$$ wasted, in my experience, unless it is obvious trama like broken bone or garden variety illness, it turns into a bad "House" episode of repeated wrong diagnosis (RWD) after RWD, with attendant suffering.
Take the pain pills buddy, lots of them but before run out to the local drugstore and pick up a very inexpensive jar of glycerin suppositories. For me at least, they have worked as advertised: within one hour on otherwise verging on impacted constipation.(okay so that time I used two instead of one -it's not like you will overdose or even can)
Regular laxatives (and I was prescribed them all) never worked and pericolase OTC made me vomit (no snickering from over the pond please, yes I did use the right hole)
Seriously the only warning I could ever find was a generic one that if it was lower abdominal pain, don't use, you need to see a doctor, It is so Easy (bad pun)
I asked my doctors over the course of the last two years of narcotic induced constipation why they don't recommend glcerin suppositories and they all replied: patients do not know how to use them and the labels don't explain and even when we(doctors) do explain, patients don't follow the basic rules and don't go deep enough or hold long enough
Okay WARNING NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH -AVERT YOUR EYES AND QUIT SCROLLING NOW - GRAPHIC MEDICAL S**t AHEAD LITERALLY
1. If the suppository is too soft, it may be chilled in the refrigerator or under cold running water before unwrapping. Remove the wrapping and moisten the suppository with water. Lie on your left side (if you are right handed) and draw your knees up towards your chest, with the right leg drawn up more than the left.
2. Using your index finger or middle finger, whichever you find easier, gently push the suppository into the rectum, pointed end first.
3. The suppository should be inserted as far as possible, pushing the end of the suppository sideways to ensure contact with the wall of the bowel.
4. Lower your legs to a comfortable position to help you to hold the suppository in place.
5. Retain the suppository in place for at least 15 to 20 minutes if possible. If you feel the suppository must come out immediately, it has not been inserted high enough.
6. You may feel an immediate urge to go to the toilet. Try to ignore this as the suppository will not work for at least 15 minutes.

Being a tough guy, I ignore step 1 and just shove one or two up the full length of my middle finger and sit on the toilet and read Maximum time was one hour and it saved some poor newbie resident from impaction duty

Jim,

Show up in his waiting room shirtless and tell the guard dogs you're not leaving until you see the doc. Bet that will change their tune.

WSell after reading this I sure hope you have gone to get seen about! I hate to hear of being in pain I know its bad. I was told that if you get hooked on pain pills they can help you get unhooked and to not stay in pain take a pill! Take two if you need to. But do get to the Dr before you cant take it anymore. I will come back to check on you. Brenda

The pain right now is the take a perc and go to bed variety. I am just about to take a xanax, miracle mouth wash and in about 1/2 hr the percocet. Almost most forgot to answer Patty ,, sorry

I am sorry that you are in so much pain. Try to relax and sleep through it. The days go faster that way and then you will have your appointment with the doctor. Sleeping through the night is my biggest problem right now. I go to sleep, but then about 2 AM I start waking up and just doze until about 7, then when it's time to get up of course I don't want to. I have not been napping because I thought that would help. It doesn't. I guess it is just a pain thing. It will go away soon I hope.

Take care Jim and sleep tight.

Patty

I dozed off and on until 5 , then got up and hit the coffee button. Been up since cleaning strawberries and cutting them up and sweeting them some. Damn, after 8 already. Have a great day all.

Hi Jim...I'm just catching up on the posts. I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain!! I know how you feel about the constipation. Although I love Charms post. Charm, I could have used that info about 2 years ago!!! I wish I knew you then. I sat on the toilet reading the box on the phone with my Mom..LOL Lucky for Ray he was playing softball that night!! I will be out of the loop for about a week so I hope to come back and here you are doing a little bit better. Sometimes it takes a while and that stinks. I did find that Senikot worked well. Try adding that to your pills.
I'll be thinking of you!! ((((hugs))))

Hey Jim,

I've been off the forum too long. Many things have kept me away.

Sorry to hear about all the pain.

I hope you are doing better now.

Thank you all for the concern. My mind is getting used to the painfor now and accepting it as part of the process. I see both Drs this coming Mon and Wed. That will be a cake walk. I can see Suzanne and her mom on the pot reading and waiting. LOL Enjoy your wedding and honeymoon as best you can.

b bThank you Larry's Daughter you are always looking out for me, Thank you much. Patty,. LOL that pain is still pain but getting lower . Naw, it's about the same. If it would leave the right inside part of my tongue I could handle it much better. Even eat much easier.
