Michelle, it sounds like you are doing what needs to be done. Your parents have much to be proud of. Stay strong. Amy

Michelle,
I am so sorry for what you are having to deal with. I am very familiar with the pain you are feeling and about to feel.

I lost my Mom on Oct. 2nd to this horrible disease and her story is a lot like your Mom's. It's so frustrating and easy to find someone to blame but what matters is that they take comfort measures for her and allow her to pass in peace with dignity.

I'm not sure if it will help but I was with my Mom for days before she past away and she was kept very comfortable. I held her hand as she took her last Breathe. It was the hardest thing I have every had to do but I promised myself that I would be there to see her go out just like she did everything to bring me into this world. Tomorrow would have been her 64th Birthday. She is missed so much but we have little to no regrets.

My prayers are with you and your Mom. Be sure to let her know how you feel and have a long talk with her soon!

If you need to talk feel free to contact me directly.

Debbie

Dear Michelle,

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your Mom and your Dad. Your Mom is in the same position my Aunt is in. I can understand the state of pain, anger, frustration and confusion you're feeling. This disease is ugly, unfair and spares no one. I agree with Debbie. As soon as you can, have a good heart to heart with your Mom. My Aunt is almost four months out from her recurrence diagnosis and all she is able to do is sleep almost 24 hrs. a day now. She can't talk anymore because of the pressure of the tumors in her mouth and throat. Spend as much time as you can with her before pain management takes over in earnest and medicates her 24/7.

I feel so sad for you. It's very hard to feel powerless when in our hearts we know that we would turn the world upside down to help the ones we love. May God be with you and give you strength and courage in the days ahead.

Hugs,
Lisa
