Find the best surgeon that you can find for the neck disection. Forgo the generalist and go to the best cancer center for the surgeon that does this everyday. He might be attached to the best radiation oncologist that you can find. If not, find him. If you need any help, I will find out for you from my Docs at Beth Israel in NY. Finding the most experienced will help you live into your 80's and suffer the least side effects. Call me at 732-687-3518 if you need a referral from my Docs. Also have it tested for HPV. Bob age 57, non smoker,non drinker, ended treatment on 11 Nov 2007 and started back to work on 29 Nov 2007. Veterans Day 2012 the Battle was lowered, folded, Taps was played and the Flag buried as I am know a 5 year survivor. Semper-FI !!!

No Chemo; just removal of the tumor and radiation. I have very, very minimal side effects now (drier throat and I sleep more). I never stopped working completely as I had home access to my work PC. Here is a list of the number of hours I put in. Week one was my surgery. I could of worked more, and I'm glad I didn't. Focusing on getting better took most of my energy and limiting my hours was the best decision for me.
