I'm in the process of compiling a list of questions for them. Any suggestions from the members would be appreciated. Thanks! Tami's Mom (Susan)

Please post more details of what stage of follow-up you are in. Has radiation been scheduled? What type and why? What type of chemo drugs are you suggesting, How long will I receive them? How often do you scheduls scans and what type of scans will they be and why? What was the staging of my cancer?
These are some of the ones I would ask in hindsight.
Best Wishes, Danny Boy

I was diagnosed with base of tongue cancer in late June (Stage 3). I have already completed all my radiation and chemo treatments at the end of August. I am now trying to overcome the side effects of the radiation and chemo.

For instance, I have ________ as a symptom, my goal is __________, what do I need to do to achieve this goal. (fill in the blanks for 1...pain, xerostomia. fatigue, etc. and for 2, ...being pain-free, having a moist mouth, being able to ride a camel across the Sahara, .........WHATEVER!) Those are questions which don't take a crystal ball to answer, as so many open ended questions do (..."When will the pain go away, will I ever have a moist mouth again, will I ever be able to ride a camel across the Sahara?.....) Just make sure that whatever questions you ask, the doctor has a reasonable chance of being able to answer without calling in a psychic. Not trying to be flip, honestly, but so many folks (me included) want guarantees and reassurance that a good clinician won't be able to answer even on a clear day.
I wish you wellness, strength and length of days, Andrea

When should a dr. refer a patient for a node biopsy? Which dr would be responsible for this decision and who would do the test? Thanks Tami
