About a month and half ago I started to have a small lump in my Retromolar Trigone area that would mildly hurt. For the past 3 weeks I feel a 2 bumps on my tonsil that I try to pop thinking it could be tonsil stones but can't pop them. I've been reading it could be tonsil stones or tonsil cyst or even possibly tonsil cancer. For 3 weeks now I will get pain deep in my left ear. When I stick my finger inside mouth and push on the bump on my tonsil I feel the pain. The pain is not that severe, pretty mild but very annoying. Pain in my ear and if I eat and swallow something I Feel a bit of a pinch on the bump. Recently past 3 days the ear pain has gotten worse on and off but this morning my jaw is real stiff, first time that happens. I'm currently over seas and saw a ENT recently and he seemed like he just wanted money. He told me you most likely have tonsillitis and we should do surgery to remove your tonsils, he also said if it made me feel any better when can send it in to see if its cancer. I'm really worried since this has been going on for a month and half. I don't have any fevers so I'm thinking it can't be tonsillitis. I feel pretty fatigued as well for about the past 2 weeks. Any thoughts? Suggestions? I plan on getting back home to the states and finding a ENT doctor. Maybe thinking I should do a Biopsy of the bump in the tonsil and do some cat scan on my sinuses. Any suggestions on how to tell as well if that bump in my mouth in the Retromolar Trigone area is cancer? The bump hasn't went away and only hurts if I push on it. I'm 27 Male Ex-Smoker. 4 months into my quit and I smoked for about 10 years. I do have a deviated septum as well. I read somewhere it could be Mucus Retention Cyst. Real confused.

Welcome. The doctor you saw gave good advise. Other than that, see an ENT here, and proceed from there. The only thing that can prove cancer is a biopsy, but these doctors are experienced enough to tell what it could be, maybe not, out of hundreds of oral conditions, most which are non cancerous. Usually this area is painless until late stages, if cancerous. In the meantime, leave everything alone. Good luck.

Yea he seemed to just want money, I actually requested for the biopsy and had to ask more then once for him to say okay. I hope for the best. The pain has been gradually getting worse through out the month. The stiff jaw was sudden today and still the stiffness actually getting worse. God willing it's nothing serious.

I don't know when you're coming back home, so maybe you can see another where you're at sooner? To biopsy the tonsil, surrounding area, they have to do it under anesthesia, usually during triple scope of the upper aero digestive tract. I would say they may prescribe antibiotics, schedule a CT scan or other scan, and take it from there to do whatever else is necessary to confirm or discount cancer, find the problem causing your ailments. Maybe ask for some pain meds to help.

Do you know what could be a complete test to see it entirely to discount Oral cancer. I was thinking Endoscopy with Biopsy and Barium swallow followed with some x-rays or cat scans. Thing is I'm currently in Egypt and here you have to request what you want, it's pretty bad since the doctors aren't really at there best here. I'll be back less the month god willing. Looking forward to getting the new insurance with ObamaCare since I don't have any. Hoping to get some temporary measures to rule out whats going on.

An endoscopy is part of having a triple scope or pandendiscopy, except three places are examined. I wouldn't say there is a compete test, it's all done in steps to help identify the cause, and proceed along the way to gather facts, suspicions at each step, like a visual and palpable exam first, an office flex scope or larygnoscope, a round of antibiotics, a CT scan, PET/CT, FNA if possible, endoscopy with biopsy, possibly with surgery, etc are all possibilities, but that's jumping far ahead, and most times it's something minor, and not cancer, which is not that common anyway compared to other type cancers. Take one step at a time, and it's not cancer until proven, and only a biopsy can do that, no scan can, but are all clinical diagnostic tools, like the others, and combined may help with a diagnosis.
