And I talk to his ENT who did the surgery office and she says he needs to go see an Internal Meds doc which he hasn't had one or seen one since he had double pneumonia 7 or so yrs ago so we find him a new one and I get in also cuz I am sick with sinus infection/bronchitis probably and tired of feeling like shit and I call him and what does he do? F'n screams at me he isn't going (well as best as he can scream cuz his mouth is so sore and swollen)to a "new" doctor and on and on and I was speechless and crying and couldn't speak and when he finally calmed down and realized I wasn't saying anything he kept saying "hello, hello" and he hung up and I haven't tried to call the idiot back. I am trying to contact his doctor he went to and they came in @ 10am and all I keep getting is a busy signal and what makes him think he will get in to be seen today? My primary doc was booked until the 13th and there is no way he is gonnna make it til next week and with the way he yelled at me and how I've been listening to him moan and groan how much he hurts and I tried to help...screw him he can call on his own and TRY to talk to the receptionist with the mushy mouth he has going on now. Damn men!

First I'm sorry you are feeling so lousy and Ron is such an A**hole. No one deserves to be treated the way he treats you when you are only trying to help. I don't understand why the ENT can't give him a script. He technically is still under his care. I would call back and ask to speak to the doctor. Good luck!

So, yesterday I call him from work and he tells me his mouth is killing him so bad right, AND he says "I should have gone with you to that Dr apt" Hah! He said ya ya don't even say it. lol so I called and got him one for this afternoon @ 240PM. Instead of hurting worse he could have been feeling better by now and yes I'm gonna say it! I told you so!! smile BUT he has been eating!! And with all the pain he has in his mouth the past 2 days he has been eating Chili! 2 x's a day that my daughter made, he said he wants to eat it so bad he's tolerating the pain and last night he told me he can swallow better that his swelling in his throat is almost gone and that he wants to eat and eat til he gets sick! lol gross but understandable so as soon as this Thrush is gone I'll be cooking him whatever he wants to eat. How cool is this?! 5 months after his last day of radiation and the swelling has finally gone down. Woo hoo! AND he cracks up saltine crackers in his chili too and doesn't use anything to wash it down with either, I was very proud yesterday watching him eat it, I didn't see him eat it the other times cuz I was at work. He said see baby I was telling you I couldn't swallow before cuz of the swelling now it's gone. So for anybody who like me got pissed off cuz of them not eating or trying to, be patient and don't bitch(like I did)and get yourself all in a tizzy, if they were told by the dr that they will be able to swallow, give them time, they will! Woo Hoo!

As long as you have drymouth issues you will have potential for thrush. I am 8 years out, have pretty decent saliva output and earlier this year I had thrush. Keep Diflucan on hand for this.

Fear can drive patients a bit (ok - a LOT) crazier than they were even before the cancer thing - I ended up buying my wife a BMW Z4 Roadster to make amends for my literally delusional behaviour (mainly due to all of the narcotics). Caregivers have it very hard so feel free to vent here anytime - guilt free!

HOLY SHIT!!! A BEAMER? FRIGGIN AWESOME. LOL
Ron couldn't ever afford me one or any kind but that's OK lol plus the car I want is a New Camero! lol kinda cheaper lol
What a great husband you are! Have you ever heard of using tea tree oil instead of meds for treating thrush? I was reading home remedies and that was one thing we have in the house. He was going to try it but figured he's going today. And what is diflucan? is it a precription? I talked to the dr when I went about his thrush and she said nystatin should he get that or the other one?

I am so glad to hear that he's able to eat! How great is that!!! And to do crackers! It took Matt a long time to try crackers.

I hear ya big time on the "told ya so". Stubborn guys. sheesh
I don't know what Matt did for thrush, he only had it a time or two. He uses Biotene gel to help keep his mouth moist even now (though not as often) and it's been over a year since the rad. was done on his throat. The saliva is coming back though. He thought it never would (and it must have seemed that way).

Hope that you get to feeling better soon too!

Did you see my posting that he has "something" on his flap that the Dr don't know what it is and she had an apt made with his ENT doc for Monday? I'm hoping it's just something the thrush has done maybe? He said it looks like a puss pocket...and where do you get the Biotene? At any store or do I have to order online? I'm going to get that for him and also I am feeling much better got the Zpack Tuesday but I keep coughing so hard I bark like a seal!

Believe me she EARNED the Beemer. She is an Esthetician so we have tea tree oil everywhere, I use it on my face for dry skin - I honestly can say it doesn't make an iota of difference.
Thrush can get away from you and sometimes can be fatal - it's nothing to fool around with. It will go to the esophagus next then the stomach, then it becomes systemic in the blood. Thrush is a fungal (yeast) infection and there are no home remedies.

Call the ENT.

More about Diflucan (it is a prescription drug and simliar to Monistat):
