Amy

Thanks for the opposite view, although the ocean with surf might be safer than a pool. I've swallowed ocean salt water and pool water in my pre-PEG days and the latter was worse.
I'd hate to ruin the first vacation in a year by getting an infection so I may just play it safe. My first GI was a joke and there was no follow up from the second GI who replaced the first GI's mistakes later. Thanks for sharing what you were told

My docs didn't seem concerned about water seeping in, but more about infection from unclean water. They said private pools would be fine but might want to stay away from the public ones. I did however swim in a couple hotel pools and cruise ship pools and lived to tell about it with no ill effects. I tried forming a water-proof seal with some water resistant band-aids but it wasn't very effective.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. That plus Amy's post makes me think I will just pack a swimsuit and wait until I see how clean the water actually is and whether there are little kids potty training there (a real hassle when I was on the board of directors for our community pool when we lived in MD). Everyone with a PEG seems to agree that it is infection I need to watch out for,

I've mentioned this before -- Be extremely careful and don't sit still for long -- Water may easily slip in through the outer stoma to the point that your skin will be filled with water and you won't be able to stand up because you will weigh too much -- They will have to drain the tub and then install drains in your feet to get the water out.

It seems the older we get, the better our sense of humor.
Thanks for the smile brother
