If so, what precautions if any do I need to take? Tape over the tube? Never thought I need to know, but all my doctors and therapists canceled next week for vacations so used Priceline named my own price for a three and half star hotel in Asheville NC (couldn't afford it otherwise) and it has both a nice hot tub and two pools.Anybody know if I will drown  Charm

On the flip side and not having a PEG I would think that you might have a concern of infection at the insertion site.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Joined: May 2007 Posts: 666 | I did have baths with the PEG. I would be careful re swimming and much movement as the seal is not tight (infection). In principle you could make a water proof seal with decent tape. (no duct tape!).
If that is workable I say go for it! ... and take your Goa'uld with you.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | The answer is no. My doc told me not to go swimming or do any hot tubs. Water will seep in thru the opening in your belly. Thats why sometimes it gets a little leaky around the opening, fluids seep out.
This was discussed a long time ago on here. Im a big chicken when it comes to trying things so I wouldnt swim while I had the PEG. Some on here have taken a quick swim.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Never been there yet, but I am intrigued by its nickname:
"Santa Fe of the South" We are thinking of selling the house and relocating somewhere next year as my retirement pension does not cover the non reimbursed medical and dental bills ($5,000.00 for blue cross this year before the catastrophic coverage kicked in and $3,000.00 in dental which is not covered at all) and are exploring Asheville.

I asked the GI I saw two weeks ago about going swimming. She said "have at it." She also gave me a look like it might have been the stupid question she had been asked all day. She did suggest an ace bandage or extra tape if I went into the surf.

40 yr old. Stage IV SCC found left tonsil. PET/CT shows cancer on base of tongue, floor of mouth, lymph nodes on both sides. HPV 16 pos. 6 weeks of cisplatin, 43 days of radiation. 73gy on each side.
