Just to add a few things mentioned, it is not common for
HPV involment in the oral cavity or tongue, but may occurr. Sometimes it's a missed primary in the oropharynx or is too small for any scanning. They may do a pendosvopy, with biopsies, before surgery while under sedation to see if there is further involving.
There have been a few studies, published reports, that show long term partners are not at an increaee risk for
HPV.
