I think the most important thing is to be sure you have access to a medical team, not just a single doctor. Have you had a CT or a PET scan yet? How can the doctor know the cancer hasn't spread without a full set of diagnostic tests? Things are going to get crazy and scary but remember, you are an individual and deserve to be treated as one.
