Hi all, I'm writing on behalf of my mom (80). She had surgery back in August for a tumor in her neck. The surgery was more complicated than expected and long story short we learned the tumor was wrapped around a nerve in her tongue. She is on a feeding tube (Bolus) but her biggest issue/problem remains the thick mucus that she has to deal with constantly. We have tried many things per different drs (benadryl. mucinex, a prescription for G (can't remember the whole name) and she has a suction machine. But I'm wondering if anyone has found something better? My poor mom gets no sleep at night dealing with this.

I did a preliminary search on this forum and see others are dealing with it so I'm not sure if there is but I'd appreciate any advice etc.

Thank you!

Hi Elisa—my husband (73) only had chemo and radiation and finished mid-August. He also had a hard time with mucous at back of his throat but it has slowly gotten better with time and using guafenesine at least twice a day. Hope that helps!
