Yeah, I know. This is a forum for Oral Cancer, which I have. But since having surgery, which lasted 12 hours, my feet have been killing me every evening and only in the evening??

They ache, I get shooting pain through them, they feel numb and tingly. Did not have the problem prior to surgery. Was wondering if this might be a side effect from being under so long.

Should I mention it to my surgeon or make an appointment with a Podiatrist??

The first thing to do is to mention it to your surgeon. I have never heard of this, but you never know....Perhaps your leg was in an awkward position for too long and a nerve got pinched. It happens sometimes in the arm at the elbow. But if both are doing it, then that is an unlikely explanation. Mention it to the surgeon, and then ask who your anaesthesiologist was, and ask him. There could possibly be some remote and unusual side effect of some chemical you were given.

The podiatrist can not deal with such a problem, unless you first rule out all medical explanations. He can only make suggestions about symptomatic physical relief.

As long I have been here I am always getting new information! Anesthesia can have some short term effects. I would run it by your surgeon.

Jon, I have the same issue with my feet now also. I was told it was nerve inflamation and it too shall pass. Strange how little side effects cause some major discomforts. I just take off my shoes and let my feet rest and the ache seems to ease, but I am in my own office at a desk.

My husband said that his heel really hurt after he came to from surgery. It went away after a few days. The surgeon didn't think there was any correlation.

Mine is in the ball of the foot area. After I take off my shoes and let my feet rest for awhile it isn't as bad.
