I had my pre-surgery appointment down at Mayo today. I really, really like this surgeon. I am very comfortable with him and for that, I am thankful.

Today's visit pretty much brought the same news as my previous visit: He will be removing 3 teeth and some of my jawbone. He will do this from inside my mouth, but will need to make a small incision in my cheek to put something through, I actually think he said a light? He really doesn't believe that he will need to take any nodes, but he will accompany my "stuff" to pathology and they will decide then. He also said that he may or may not need to take skin from my thigh to cover everything up. On the drive home I pondered whether they'd shave this first. I am not taking any chances, I am shaving my thighs before bed.

They told me that I will be one of the later surgeries of the morning because he has two other cases that are children. They get to go first, and they should. But then this evening I find out that my report time is 6:30 AM. I wonder what time the early patients need to get there.

I am ready to get on with this already. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't scared. But I am ready to get it over with and get on the road to recovery. I have a huge support team in place and I am not worried at all about my family being taken care of. I know that they are in good hands.

I appreciate all of the support and good wishes from everybody here. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers if you are so inclined.

I'll try to have someone put an update on here over the weekend. If that doesn't happen, I'll get on just as soon as humanly possible.

Amy

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I can't sleep, but otherwise I am doing okay. I figure that I'll be getting plenty of sleep in the next few days/weeks to more than make up for it.

In case you are wondering, I took a bath and shaved my thighs. Sorry for the unappealing visual smile

I'll keep you posted.

Amy

Hi Amy,

I hope that your next post will be to tell it everything went well and you're recovering. I'm with you on the not taking any chances - do the bath, shave the thighs. If nothing else it made you feel better.

Best wishes,
Regards JoAnne
