Hi all,

Why am I not surprised to find Brian and the OCF in print again.

I just received the January issue of "Inside Dentistry", a widely distributed dental magazine. There are 3 wonderful articles in it, and Brian and or the OCF are in all three.

I had known about this coming issue since last September when I was contacted by one of the writers to see if I could help her out. After some lengthy discussions and emails, I referred her to the OCF website and and gave her the email addresses for two OCF members that had lost loved ones to oral cancer. As a result of this, she put together a great article about the OCF, Brian and Rosie Michael. For those that don't know Rosie, her daughter Heather fought and lost, a long and courageous battle with oral cancer.

The writer did a wonderful job detailing Brian's fight and successes and gave a heart rendering synopsis of Heather's battle.

I am hoping that these 3 articles will go a long way in helping to get the word out to my colleagues about the importance of early detection.

I hope that there is some way that Brian can get these articles to Sheldon so that they can be placed in the Oral Cancer In The News section of the website to be read by all.

I haven't seen these yet, but I am pretty sure that they will not be in any electronic form. Jerry if you could fax me copies of them, we could get them typed and into the OCF news site. Or we could ask the publisher to send some copies to OCF and I could get it from there, and type it up. Jerry would you mind making the call since I don't have the numbers?

Since the magazine is gigantic, at 10.5" x 13.5", I think it's best that I call for a copy to be sent to you. There is a number to call for addtional copies right in the magazine. I will take care of it first thing Monday morning.

BTW I sent off an email to Brittney, the writer and she hadn't even seen the article in print yet. I told how great it was ( as well as the other 2 articles) and she was thrilled to hear from me.

I plan to contact the editor by email, too and thank him for the great service that they have provided for all of us. I hope and pray that it has some impact on those that read it.

I am so glad they used Rosie Mitchell and Heather for the story. How different Heather's fate might have been if she had been diagnosed earlier. She was the first person I thought of when the writer posted looking for the story. She just didn't fit the profile, 29 and a non-smoker. So sad. I am looking forward to reading this article. Any chance of CURE magazine picking it up?

Take care,
Eileen

Once it has been published in one place, it isn't going to get picked up again by another publication, magazines don't work that way. We will have to wrtie something new if we want to submit it to Cure. Jerry - thanks for following up on this I don't have the numbers.

Brian,

The magazine is on it's way. Took care of it first thing this morning.

I would like to get a copy to Rosie, if she would want one, but I have no idea what her address is.

If anyone knows it, please let me know. I sent her an email last week, but have not gotten a response.
