I now have two almost-hidden lesions near the join of my new and old tongues (Old tongue has inflamed swollen spot with small, hard blister on top -- New tongue has hard, bright-white, scar-like protrusion) that just fit the Two Week-No Improvement test (The little, hard blister has partially receded) -- They are sensitive, hurt, make my lower jaw ache slightly and cause a slight ear pain.

They don't look or act anything like my previous tumors, but the power of denial is strong and I find myself making plans with some near-future surgery in mind... Am somewhat tense and distracted, but one silver lining is that I know why!

Unfortunately, I only noticed them on the night of my last followup visit, so two Docs and I examined my mouth and didn't see them!

Doc Haakenslash has scheduled a CT (and PET??) tomorrow before an office visit with him, also tomorrow, and a good friend will accompany me in case I have anything more than a punch biopsy to endure.

Hey Pete,
Sorry to hear about this recent concern, but hopefully it will turn out to be nothing worrisome! Good luck tomorrow with Dr. F. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

As I posted on another string or whatever they are called I too am going to see good old doc...you stay positive and I will stay positive and tomorrow we will laugh together. But better to be safe than sorry

My husband is coming with me but he isn't much help in the question dept...he usually disappears when the nurse comes and well I think he has enough of his own issues so pray that I am sharp and the note sent by my nurse is clear enough

You are in our thoughts, Pete. Hoping it is just scarring/inflammation, or one of the other dozens of things it could be!

Good news!! Nothing on the CT scan and Doc Haakenslash said his alarm factor was very low after seeing and palpating, however, he did take a biopsy (Just reached in a snipped, not much pain) of the white one just to be sure -- The other was soft, so no problem -- He believes both lesions are from irritation because they are at the end of my lower teeth.

I have to say that I didn't expect bad news, but I was prepared to receive it!

Interesting side note -- I requested, as usual, a copy of the CT scan from the Radiology department -- They informed me that new policy was to charge $13.50, plus tax, and I had to go up to pay cashier and then come back. I did -- Good thing, because when I got to the Doc's office, the scan was not yet up on the network and we used my CD to look, so I got to hear the comments of two Doc's while looking at it and asking questions!

Second note -- This was my first scan at UWMC and they are using GE machines, producing about 500 slices -- Previous scans were with (older?) Siemens machines and they were only producing about 267 slices.
