Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 23 | My husband Robert had 5 nodes that were positive, the ENT had felt that only 1 node was involved. It was a shock to hear 5 nodes. Robert did have a modified disection. He said it was the easiest part of the treatment.His disection was prior to chemo and radiation.

I had 30 nodes removed and all were negative. The neck dissection was a piece of cake compared to the partial glossectomy. No radiation or chemo due to the staging, T1, size of the lesion and negative nodes.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 82 | I had one node positive. It was only 4mm so it was not detected by any of the scans. I had both radiation and chemo.
DX on 05/01/06 with SCC of right tongue. 05/11/06 surgery-tumor 1.2cm & 4 cm clear margins & parital glos. & neck dissection with removal of 34 nodes/1 positive at 4mm)T1N1MO
35 IGRT & 3 cycles of chemo (1 cisplatin & 2 carbo-complete on 8/9/06.
