Anyone ever had a blood blister show up near the previous tumor site? Did it turn out to be anything? I had my tumor cut out 2 1/2 years ago and no problems since. Last night, while brushing my teeth, I noticed a blood blister on the underside of my tongue at the edge of the tumor bed. I am a little nervous about it - but not sure if I should be. I did schedule an appointment later today - but not sure if I am overreacting or not. Anyone ever had this or know if it would be of any concern?

Well - I went to the office and he went ahead and biopsied it. He didn't think it was anything other than a blood blister - but found it odd in the location and that I couldn't remember biting it or eating anything sharp. Should find out in several days.

Hi Amy,

I've had both blood and water blisters appear on my tongue near the tumor site. This started a few months after my surgery with the water blisters. I had one drained, cauterized, and was biopsied (no cancer). After radiation, I continued to get blisters including blood blisters. Ive had my surgeon, and oncologist involved and they even sent me to an infectious disease doctor. They did cultures and others tests (nothing showed up), and classified my problem as chronic ulcers (aphthous stomata). I completed radiation over 2 years ago and Im still having healing issues with my mouth.

Considering the first sign of my cancer was a non-healing canker sore, anything abnormal that appears on my tongue causes me concern and a trip to the doctor to check it out.

You did the right thing to have it checked, and hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.

Thanks. I'm still waiting on the results. The office called on Friday to tell me that it is taking longer than usual - and they weren't sure why. The pathologist wasn't finished with it yet. Since it was a really small sample - I'm hoping that just means he took a day off or something and hadn't gotten to it yet. I should find out this week.

I didn't have any radiation - so I really don't have any of the healing issues that a lot of people have - so that's why it's even more odd that it popped up where it did, but I'm sure it will probably be nothing.
