Neck Dissection and IMRT -- the gifts that keep on giving. ;-)

As my nerves continue to reconnect in my neck and shoulders, the "wooden" feeling has progressed around the front and sides of the neck, while the tops of shoulders and back of neck are incredibly stiff. Limited ROM, tenderness along the SCM, the whole nine yards. Last night was mowing the lawn and had to stop, as the vibration was causing the muscles to spasm and extend numbness down arms. Arm abduction (raising to side with palms down) is only possible to about 100 degrees without discomfort.

I know this is similar to other posts in the past, but would like to know what others have experienced at this point in recovery. I'm inclined to seek a PT prescription when I go back to MO in mid June.

You should have been in PT three weeks after your neck dissection and maybe you wouldn't have any of these problems now. Now it is going to take alot of work to get you functioning again. Get a script and try to get a recommendation to a PT that is used to dealing with someone who has had your surgery. Also have the script written to include the lymph drainage problem. A good PT can help this also.
